It seems to me that getting a Battle.net account and having to activate once is no big deal. Here is my step by step: 1) Start SC2 and click "Play as Guest" (as I have read this is only way to play SC2, in any manner, without an internet How can you say modern broadband internet has made lan play useless? If someone does say constant then that's a completely new ball game because I do not see any particular reason why they would implement offline mode at all then. And no LAN support is still a deal breaker. They try to mask this by a lot of different reasons but it's obvious what's the main issue.

  1. I have tried to clear the ProgramData cache and recreate the offline fine but that doesn't do anything.
  2. I should only need internet for multi-player and for game updates.
  3. There's no LAN, the lag is horrible (it was horrible before, with TCP, now using UDP we got major instability issues in addition to the lag), the focus is on inane
  4. There are four factors here:1.
  5. The Forced 6-8gig Download plus 30-40min update was bad enough, but I would not have spent any money at all on SC2 had I known this.

And having got an account, I might be more willing to try the online at least once to see what happens which is what Blizzard wants. A regretful buy for me.
